Match Report - Wootton
Bassett
Biddestone batting was just not good enough to beat Wootton Bassett.
Biddestone won the toss and asked Bassett to bat. With the exception of the opener Sam
Lawro who top scored with 58 not out all the other batsmen found scoring runs difficult.
The tight bowling of Mark Unwin (4 wkts for 35 runs),Naeem Khan (2 wkts
for 37 runs) and Clint Bowyer (3wkts for 37runs) restricted the home side to 133 for 9
wkts after 50 overs. The fielding was good with MartinSawyer taking a splendid catch in
the deep.
In reply Biddestone were all out for 56 runs in 22.1overs. Only two
batsmen achieved double figures: Andrew Lawton 12 amd Clint Bowyer 11
Bassett bowlers: Ian Lancaster 5 wkts for 23 runs, Chris Jones 5 wkts for
28 runs.
The umpires did say that the Bassett bowlers used the conditions to their
advantage and that the ball did move off the seam more than the first innings.
