Club Mission Statement
and Objectives.
Club Mission Statement.
A mission statement should embody the vision and values of a cricket club, and ensures that everyone knows what the
cricket club are aiming to achieve in the future.
A mission statement should be forward thinking, visionary and be a target to
aspire to achieve in the future.
It is important that all club members and
volunteers identify and understand the club’s mission statement and ‘buys into’
its aims and objectives.
This ‘buy in’ process or commitment to the cricket club’s mission statement
will enhance the likelihood of achieving the club’s mission and long term aims
and objectives.
Instructions:
In the box below please complete your club’s mission statement (maximum 50 words)
Club Objectives.
In order to successfully achieve a mission
statement it is vital that realist and attainable objectives are set.
Objectives are the ‘stepping stones’
that contribute to successfully achieving
the aims and mission statement of the cricket club.
Instructions: Below are six
aims. For each aim that is a priority
to your cricket club and relevant to
your mission statement identified above, complete the five objectives your club
are going to set in order to achieve the aim and subsequently your club’s
overall mission statement.
Aim 1: Harness
and develop all young cricketers so
they have the opportunity to contribute to the game of cricket at all levels
and play a central role in club cricket life
(maximum of five bullet points).

Continue to offer an all-inclusive policy
as set out in the club's Mission Statement avoiding selection and exclusion
wherever possible. §
Ensure all youth playing members have an
opportunity to play in competitive cricket appropriate to their standard and
ability. §
Offer
additional support to the most talented players to allow a smooth progression
into the senior cricket teams. §
Be fully involved in Chance to Shine
programme in 2008, building upon the successful first two years on the
programme (2006 and 2007). §
Provide a
high quality winter and summer coaching programme. §
Provide representation for Under 18 members through a
dedicated sub-committee forum with views and output to be fed into main youth
committee (New in 2008). |
Aim 2: Develop and strengthen a
structure and pathway for women and
girls to actively participate in and follow cricket (maximum of five bullet
points).

Follow-up first year of focus on girls
(2007) by increasing numbers at both U11 and U13 in 2008. U11 to be the
primary focus in 2008 using Chance to Shine. §
Continue
to provide maximum possible support to existing female coach. Look to recruit
more female coaches particularly those that play cricket and who therefore
will act as a role model for girls. §
Ensure facilities are adequate to
establish a new female section. §
Support
the work of Steve Silk, the ECB Cricket Development Manager which established
a district girls team in 2007, working with Alex Muse and others to §
Seek
opportunities to support women and girl's cricket through the Chance to Shine
initiative. §
Aim
to have at least one girl in our main age group youth teams playing league
cricket by the end of the 2008 season. |
Aim 3: Develop and strengthen
the whole club environment, promoting cricketing opportunities for disabled people (maximum of five bullet
points).

Seek
opportunities to support disabled people through the Chance to Shine
initiative. §
Provide
opportunities for all through an open club constitution. §

cricket for black and ethnic minorities
(maximum of five bullet points).

Aim 5: Ensure
that our cricket club is an integral part of the local community, contributing
an invaluable service to all sections of the local community, developing club members, supporters and volunteers
(maximum of five bullet points).

Club
Captain, Club Development Manager and Club Welfare Officers are all an integral
part of the village community. §
Organise,support
and deliver summer school programmes (camps) on club ground providing facilities
and cricket coaching/fun activities to young people. §
Continue
to maintain the good relationship with the tennis club and the football club
that share our facilities. §
Continue to provide associate (aka 'social') membership for non-playing members of
the club. §

Aim 6: Develop and strengthen senior playing teams, providing
positive roles models to all club members, leading achievement and success
(maximum of five bullet points).

Club's 1st
XI to maintain and consolidate their position as a Gloucester / Wiltshire league
team and as one of the top six clubs in Wiltshire. §
Strengthen
the pathway and integration of young players into appropriate senior teams. §
Investigate
the possibility of establishing a named club coach to support senior cricket
at the club. §
Continue
to maintain an effective, active and efficiently operating cricket club
committee structure. §
Provide training as a Club Coach (aka
Level 2 1/2) as soon as possible for the Club Captain. |

should follow these five simple well known rules…

Identify
when each action should be completed by; this will help the club celebrate
its achievements and target future ‘yet to achieve’ actions. |
