Bradford |
Captains Match Reports - The
first B team game of the season was against Bradford. Biddestone batted first and were off
to a slow start and a few early wickets had us down but not out at 13-2 of 7 overs. The
captain, Josh Boulton, came in and rallied the team and after 20 overs the home side
finished on 87-8 with Josh reaching 30 not out including a six in the penultimate over.
Bradford then came out to chase but faced some accurate opening bowling from James Harper
and Paul Walden with 1-1 and 1-14 respectively. Some resistance was made by the Bradford
captain.However it was in vain as they reached 50 from their 20 overs. Nearly all of the
bowlers took wickets but the highlight was Andy Flynn on his Biddestone debut taking 2-7.
Two superb catches each from Chris and Stewart rounded of an excellent win. |

Frome |
The team travelled to Frome,
but unfortunately did not make enough runs batting first. Frome were able to reach the
required target for the loss of only 2 wickets. |

Bath 2 |
Captains match Report -
Biddestone got of to an excellent start taking several wickets in little time. But Bath
fought back in the last 10 overs and even though they lots wickets at regular intervals
made 81 for 8 from their twenty overs.
Biddestone got a quick start before Josh Boulton who scored 14 was dismissed. Biddestone
lost three wickets before Andy Flynn,11, and Paul Walden 34no put on a mini partnership of
thirty. Paul and James Harper won it in the last over. An exciting game, which was ended
brilliantly in torrential rain.
We fielded and bowled excellently with every bowler getting at least one wicket. |
| Monday 6th June |
Bradford |
On Monday, there was victory in
the game at Bradford. Bradford batted first and made 71 for 9 with the wickets being well
shared amongst all the Biddestone bowlers. In reply, Paul Walden carried his bat for the
second match running although the visitors were helped by a large number of 'extras'. They
reached 72 for the loss of only three wickets. |
| Tuesday 7th June |
Lansdown |
On Tuesday, the B side played
in the first round of the Bath Youth League knock-out cup against Lansdown, from a
division higher. Unfortunately Lansdown reached 91 for 2 and depsite the efforts of jamie
Penton (21) and Paul Walden (14), the reply could only reach 56 all out. |
| Monday 13th June |
Frome |
In the top of the table clash, Biddestone were defeated for a
second time this season by Frome. Once again a lack-lustre fielding display allowed Frome
to reach 106 for 6 with Nat Jansen (3 for 11 off 4) and James Harper (1 for 12 off 4) the
pick of the bowlers. In reply Andy Flynn scored 18 and Tim Knight 30 and they needed nine
off the last two ball. Unfortunately, they fell short and closed on 101 for 4. |

Warminster withdrew from the

Trowbridge |
Biddestone comfortably defeated Trowbridge at home. Batting
first, the main contributors were Jamie Vickers with 37 and Paul Walden who was 32 not
out. In reply Trowbridge were all out for 78. Josh Boulton took 3 for 13 and Michael Steen
2 for 17. |

Bath 2 |
Biddestone could not repeat the
earlier win over Bath 2 as the visitors gained revenge. Bath batted first and made a large
score of 133 thanks to the opening batsman who scored 50. It was always going to be a
difficult score to reach and the home side fell short reaching 101 for 7. |
