An excellent fighting result.
After Liam Dawson with 105 helped the home side to 211, Biddestone were in trouble at 47
for 4. However a fighting partnership between Lawrence Roots and Paul Walden saved the
day. Josh taylor and Josh Boulton held on in the last over leading to a drawn match. |

Lansdown |
A comfortable win against a
weak Lansdown side. 124 was a daunting total with all the batsmen contributing, including
Josh Barnes with his first runs of the season |
| Tuesday 10th May |
Malmesbury |
The Under 15's were always on
top in their County Cup fixture against a young Malmesbury side. All the bowlers took
wickets with Josh Barnes looking particularly sharp.

without the loss of a wicket. |

Keynsham |
The game against Keynsham was
played despite heavy showers and atrocious conditions. The Under 15's restricted a very
good Keynsham side to 69 runs which included a superb leg-side diving catch from Lawrence
Roots. Ben McElhinney bowled excellently
Despite a good start from Martin Sawyer and Sam Boor wickets fell as the gloom descended.
At 9.20 pm Sam Stafford needed to hit the last ball for 3 to win. His hit to the boundary
ended up as 2 runs, but a tie turned out to be enough for victory as Biddestone had lost
fewer wickets. |
| Monday 30th May |
Westbury |
In an enthralling game,
Biddestone lost by one run off the final ball at Westbury.
On a day when nothing went right in the field, Biddestone found themselves chasing a
formidable total of 126 to win in 20 overs.
Thanks to a good positive start from Sam Boor, Martin Sawyer and Tom Needham, Biddestone
were always up with the rate and hard-hitting from Josh Barnes left 10 needed from the
last two overs. However, Westbury saved their best bowler for the last over and he took
two wickets in the last two balls to win the game for the home side. Heartbreak for
Biddestone in a game they would normally have won with ease. |

Corsham |
The Under 15's put the
disappointment of Westbury behind them, although the win at Corsham was far from
straightforward and went down to the last ball.
Batting first, runs were hard to come by and it was left to Andrew Lawton (30) and Alex
Leadbeater (22 not out) to get the score up to 90 from the 20 overs.
However, Corsham' s batsmen confirmed how difficult it was to score on the wet pitch as
they made an equally slow start against Josh Barnes and Alex Leadbeater,The middle order
bowling of Andrew Lawton and Josh Taylor kept the score in check and the game looked won
with 30 required from the last 3 overs, However with 14 in the 18th over, the game was
taken to the last ball with Corsham needing a four to tie and win the game. Fortunately
they were kept to a single and victory went to Biddestone. |
| Friday 10th June |
Wootton Bassett |
The third round of the County
Cup was reached as the Under 15's defeated Wootton Bassett. Batting first Biddestone made
84 for 6 thanks to Sam Boor (16), Ben McElhinney (14) and plenty of extras. In reply, a
superb spell by Josh Taylor (4 overs, 2 maidens, 4 wickets for 3 runs including a
hat-trick) and 1 for 4 from Josh Barnes from his four overs, secured victory. |
| Monday 13th June |
Bath |
Despite defeat, the Under 15's performed well against an
extremely strong Bath side, on the very low wicket at Lansdown. Bath batted first and
reached 145-5 with some very straight hitting. Andrew Lawton took 1 for 23 from his 4
overs. In reply Biddestone were going well thanks to Martin Sawyer (18) and Sam Boor and
were 61 for 1 after 9 overs and on course. Unfortunately the middle order were unable to
maintain the momentum (despite a huge Josh Barnes trademark 6 ! ) and the innings closed
on 107-7. |
| Friday 17th June |

Walden (54 not out) and Andrew Lawton (40), the home side reached 207 for 5 declaring
after 42.5 overs.
Devizes had no answer to the tight bowling of Ben McElhinney (2 for 8 from 5), Josh Taylor
(3 for 11 from 4.2) and Andrew Lawton (4 for 7 from 5) |
| Monday 4th July |
Chippenham |
A real nail-biter brought victory against the old enemy,
Chippenham. Batting first a modest total of 93 for 7 looked insufficient, especially after
being 58-1 after 10. However Biddestone bowled and fielded very well and Josh Taylor
picked up 3 of the top four batmen in a full strength Chippenham side. Andrew Lawton
caught Marcus Brown when he looked like taking the game away, but it still looked like
defeat with 8 needed from 2 overs. However Ben McElhinney bowled an excellent last over
and with a run out off the last ball the game ended in a tie with Biddestone winning as
they had lost fewer wickets. |
| Thursday 14th July |
Temple Cloud |

| Sunday 17th July |
Swindon |
Victory at Swindon where tight
bowling on a sweltering afternoon restricted the home side to just 133 from 42 overs. In
fact, but for 9,10 and 11, it would have been 25 less.
Martin Sawyer (30) and Tom Needham (22) set a solid base and Andrew Lawton (20 not out)
and Josh Barnes (29 not out) saw Biddestone home by 6 wickets. |
| Monday 18th July |

Revenge
against Westbury after the early season defeat. Martin Sawyer score 61 not out including 4
sixes (although one was carried over the boundary!). The home side closed on 127. In

Corsham |
An excellent game played in
vary good spirit on an exteremely gloomy evening. Biddestone's 99 was mainly thanks to Sam
Boor with 30. Corsham needed 8 off the last over, but an excellent last over from Josh
Boulton who ended up with 2 for 9, only allowed Corsham a single run. |
| Thursday 28th July |
Malmesbury |
A winning draw at Malmesbury.

was the pick of the batsmen with 57. Josh Barnes took three wickets for 18 and Josh Taylor
took two for 14, including another fine caught and bowled. |
| Sunday 14th August |
Cannings |
Good tight bowling restricted
Cannings to a modest total. Josh Taylor bowled 5 maidens in his nine overs. The reply
stuttered after Tom Needham went for 0 to a brute of a ball and Sam Boor followed soon
after. However an excellent season-best from Paul Walden (67) and 30 from Martin Sawyer
saw Bidds home with 7 overs to spare. |
| Tuesday 16th August |
Bath |
Bath batted first and were
restricted to just 92 in their 20 overs. Josh Barnes took two wickets and Martin Sawyer
took two catches behind the stumps.

Keynsham |
Biddestone were victorious
against Keynsham in a keenly contested cup final played in an excellent competitive
spirit.
Biddestone won the toss and elected to bat, but lost opener Sam Boor to the second ball of
the innings. However Martin Sawyer (16) and Tom Needham (35) steadied the innings and put
on 52 for the second wicket. Josh Barnes acceplerated the innings with a hard hitting 32
and with Andrew Lawton (12) and Alex Leadbeater (11) scampering runs in the last few
overs, Biddestone reached 124 for 6 from their 20 overs.
Keynsham got off to an equally disasterous start when they too lost a wicket with the
second ball, skipper A Cains being bowled by Alex Leadbeater. Further tight bowling by
Josh Barnes (0-6 from 4 overs) and ALex Leadbeater (3 for 12 from 4) meant that Keynsham
slippied further behind the required run rate. The Keynsham middle order continued to
struggle against spinners Andrew Lawton and Josh Taylor and in the end were all out for 50
in the 16th overs. Josh took 2 for 17 and Andrew Lawton took 5 for 11 from 4 overs and was
presented with the match ball in the post-match presentation ceremony. |
