Under 13 team news in 2004
The under 13's had another successful season playing 23 games and winning 11.
2004 Turned out to be yet another successful season with lots of positive things for
the future of Biddestone Cricket Club. We lost for the second year running in the county
cup final and were knocked out in the semi finals of the Bath league Plate, losing to
winners Bath. Our Bath League position was good and we never looked out classed at any
stage of the season. One game at Bath will live with a lot of people for a very long time.
In the Wilts League we batted very well scoring over 200 whenever we seemed to bat, the
only downside was we were unable to bowl sides out to win games. This was often due to the
excellent pitches we played on, and not to do with the effort put in by the bowlers. Our
catching and fielding was again a major strength; some of the catches taken through the
season would have graced any first class game. Jamie Penton, Martin Sawyer, Paul Walden
and Andrew Lawton all took catches of real quality. Of the bowlers the pick were Jamie
Penton, Paul Walden and Andrew Lawton. Our Batsmen to note were Martin Sawyer, Andrew
Lawton, Tim Knight, and Josh Boulton who often looked more solid than his figures
suggested. Tour was a great success with all players contributing, Martin Sawyer scoring
over 100 runs and being out only once. Josh Boulton, Paul Walden and Alex Leadbeater all
scored fifties. The hospitality was again superb and I am sure we are all looking forward
to going again in 2005. I look forward to 2005 with anticipation.
