Under 11 youth team - 2002 season summary |
Once again the Under 11's came together as a completely new and untried set of lads and once again had a very successful season. In the end the weather made the league position difficult to decide and the decision was taken to allow Biddestone to share the title with Hinton Charterhouse. Unfortunately there was an early exit in the cup to Keynsham, who were probably the strongest side we played all season. it was no surprise that they ended up as beaten finalists. The team remained undefeated in the Bath League all season although it has to be said that the games against the two strongest sides were rained off. The North Wilts league was poorly supported by most of the clubs and there are already moves afoot for wholesale changes to this league next season. On the playing front Andrew Lawton and Josh Boulton both played in the District side, the former having a good season with the bat and the latter really turning into a formidable medium pace bowler. Nat Jansen and Martin Sawyer developed a tidy opening partnership. Our young wicket-keeper Alex Chrystal did well behind the stumps and will undoubtedly gain in confidence ahead of next season.
